Curtis 1225 overvoltage limit
Hello everyone,
Thanks to all the info i found here i managed to program my curtis 1225-2702 controller in my 3 wheel scooter with the self made inverted TTL cable and found it wat limited to 64% of the batt voltage so i gave 100% But here it comes: with a scope i see i get a straight lined voltage meaning i get the batt voltage on the motor but my batteries seem to have 26+ volts not only when theyre just charged on which the controller switches back to pulsing output resulting in 10% less power! with a scope i see it happends when the batt voltage comes above 25 volts. this limit is factory programmed and i cant change it with the 1314oem software. but digging in the software's .ini files i found theres also a factory and development level beside the oem Im certain many of you guys encountered this batt limit also Does anyone has an idea here? |

Re: Curtis 1225 overvoltage limit
your description is a little hard to follow... are you saying if your pack voltage is above 25v, the controller automatically cuts back to 90% pwm, and if below 25v it will allow for 100% dc?
have you found anything interesting in the .ini? -sj |

Re: Curtis 1225 overvoltage limit
Yeap thats what i see
I replaced the batteries for a regulated power supply and disconnected the motor cause my supply cant deliver enough power on the 1314 program i set to measure the battery voltage and give full trottle Now i increase the voltage and see on the scope that the output gets more until on the program i reach 25 volts, then i see the controller starts pulsating to reduce the output power, the higher the input the smaller the pulses. I assume curtis controllers do this to avoid motor damage in my case i have an 24Vdc unit Now i took a close look at the files on the 1314 software and i found a info.enu if i open this with windows notepad it lists all the availble messages the software can give. Here i see there are menu lines for factory or development level but theyre not used because my software runs in oem mode Also check the cfgxx .ini files with notepad and find "available screens" variables. Im almost sure there are some screen numbers left out that give factory adjustment menus like the overvoltage cutback that im looking for. Im sure a person with programming skills can decompile the .exe program and find the missing screen numbers to enable factory menus! Perhaps some1 has the factory version |

Re: Curtis 1225 overvoltage limit
hmm... i would think those settings would be stored in something like a "profile file" or driver file, etc but i don't know. if they are compiled into a exe, then your guess is as good as mine. one of the many reasons im a happy mac user. ctrl click>show package contents i'll download the software and take a look around.
have you tried searched http://endless-sphere.com, http://visforvoltage.org, http://diyelectriccar.com? -sj |

Re: Curtis 1225 overvoltage limit
hmm... looks like they use a database. their software doesn't like running on a mac, so i'll have to install it on a real pc to access the DB.

Re: Curtis 1225 overvoltage limit
allthough most ppl dont know of a factory level in software i found some1 on diy who works in a curtis repar centre, he confirms about the higher level but wont share anything
i see some of you guys manage to read out parameters with a terminal but i guess my 1225 doesnt support that, i just get no data readings, only with the software i cant stand it that with a full batery load my max speed gets lower ON PURPOSE |

Re: Curtis 1225 overvoltage limit
Hm i have been talking to a curtis engineer in the uk
they confirmed me that i need to change a calibration 2 parameter = output voltage limit with factory software.. offcoarse theyre not going to supply that Does nobody here have this version? |

Re: Curtis 1225 overvoltage limit
hi
on my 3 wheel mc,i have curtis 1243 controller i changed voltage parameter from 2 to 3 it was the first parameter The battery voltage parameter sets the overvoltage and undervoltage protection thresholds for the controller and battery. Overvoltage protection cuts back regenerative braking to prevent damage to batteries and other electrical system components due to overvoltage; undervoltage protection prevents systems from operating at voltages below their design thresholds. The battery voltage parameter can be set at 2 or 3, and should always be set to the system’s nominal battery pack voltage: 2= 24volt 3= 36volt maybe same on yours ? do you have 2 on first parameter ? |

Re: Curtis 1225 overvoltage limit
Thats what i try to tell,
i cant set this parameter because my oem software dont show this.. i need factory mode for this in the software(setupexe_oem_mit allen_updates..17Mb) most ppl here have downloaded there are only 4 usergroups: user, service, dealer and oem to choose in the menu but but when i dig in the program files i find theres also a factory and even a development user embedded, i must find a way to reveal them unless someone HAS this factory version and would like to share it I know many ppl here tried using higher batt voltages but bump into curtis controller output limits perhaps i send some scope measurement examples next time to show what i mean |
