Cracked case
Have a 88 2cycle with a cracked case on the flywheel side. Not broken off yet, was wondering if anyone had any idea's on patching it, or finding just the one side of the engine case as a replacement.
Thanks Joe |

Re: Cracked case
i think you can tig weld the crack. it's worth a try, or put an ad in the for sale forum -- looking for one.

Re: Cracked case
Any decent welding shop can do this for you. If you can trailer your cart, just run it by there and let someone look at it. You may luck out and be able to have it done with the engine in place!

Re: Cracked case
Seems that welding works well (read this in another post), but take it to a person who knows how to weld properly. Having a sealed case is integral to fuel feed, so it needs to be an airtight seal once it's done.

Re: Cracked case
As an owner of a welding shop PLEASE don't try to JB weld it. For an aluminum repair the parts have to be clean and Tig welding is your only permanent option. As stated run it by a welding repair shop and see what they suggest you may have to pull the engine.
