Re: G9a running rich
Sparks out the muffler? Sounds like its eating itself. Who rebuilt the motor?
Black smoke might be float level not correct. |

Re: G9a running rich
Could be dirt in the inlet needle and seat causing it not to seal properly. (will give a high float bowl fuel level)- RAY

Re: G9a running rich
Sparks from the muffler would make me very nervous. I would think thats metal to metal contact without lubrication. If it were my cart I'd pull the upper end to investigate. Call the guy that built it.

Re: G9a running rich
I rebuilt it and it has 150 psi in it,i have done alot of other small engine rebuilds so i think it should be good.I pulled plug and its completely black like to much fuel, but its weird cause it runs and then once in a while it dies out and if u pull choke it takes off again. When i rebuilt it i did everything to what the manual said.I know blue smoke is oil and black is fuel,i checked on a carb kit and its $150...buy a whole new carb off ebay for cheaper...i will check float level and see where its at....thxs guys

Re: G9a running rich
I'd say its a fuel issue check the carb again, check the pulse pump and all the hoses/fuel hoses/fuel venting.

Re: G9a running rich
150 psi compression is about 25 psi low for a new motor. Thats what a very worn out motor would have. Should have 175 there abouts.

Re: G9a running rich
I always thought there was a rebuild and then there was just rings. Rings rarely help that much in the performance department.

Re: G9a running rich
OK iwent over the motor again and did a compression test again and got 165psi,so that is ok.I reset valves to .004in and took teh carb off for inspection again. The float height is at 17mm which is in spec according to manual and i cleaned the carb again. The needle looks worn but a carb kit is $150 and you can buy a new carb for that.It also says in manual that needle seat can wear and if so then you replace carb body...so maybe this thing needs a new carb...man this thing is really bein a pain...lol

Re: G9a running rich
Seems like a PZ carb would work on a stock engine, they are cheap, but would have to jet it and all that as well as get it mounted on there. I'm thinking of trying a 30mm PZ on my clone but it might not be large enough. They are under $40, think that is large as they go. Lot of Chinese scooters and buggies use them.
