1988 Club Car won't stay running.
Hi I have a 1988 Club Car DS that was sitting for a few years. I started by draining the old gas, changing the oil replacing the fuel lines and fuel pump. It seemed I wasn't getting any gas so I replaced the carb with a new one. I can get the cart to start and move about 5 feet and then it dies. It seems to start when the pedal is pressed just a little bit. Once I push it further is shuts off. Any help would be great.
Thanks Kristen |

When it dies, does it start right back up again? Or do you have to wait a few minutes?

It will take a few minutes to get it running after is stops. But it only runs enough to go a few feet. It only seems to run when the peddle is pressed slightly anything more seems to make it shut off.

Do you know how to put it in maintenance mode? So you can run the motor while in neutral?

Re: 1988 Club Car won't stay running.
It's easy. Lift up the seat and look at the back side of the shifter. You'll see a little yellow plastic cam (see pic below). It's spring-loaded. Pull it out and turn it 180 degrees and pop it back in. Once you do that, the cart motor will only run in neutral. See if you can run the motor with no problems in maintenance mode.

Ok so I just put the cart in Maintenance mode and tried to start. It seems the motor keep spinning but not kicking over. I think the battery got a bit low so going to charge it up good tonight and try again tomorrow to see if theres any change.
