Forward acceleration is random
Hello. I have a 1998 Yamaha G19E. My problem is attempting to determine where the problem is with forward acceleration. When you press down on the throttle the cart may or may not move in FORWARD. It may run for a few feet then stop, or may run fine for a mile and then start acting up again. But when you put the cart in reverse it works fine.
My thoughts are as follows: Selenoid problem? no, because it works fine in reverse. Potentiometer on accelerator pedal? No, because potentiometer signal does not change when switching directions between forward and reverse. Motor problem? No, fine in reverse. Speed controller? Most likely, due to the answers for the previous questions. So do i need to replace the controller on this car? Or is there something else i am missing? Also will i obtain any increase in speed if I upgrade the controller to a higher amp or programmable controller? |

Re: Forward acceleration is random
You should backprobe the "F" wire from f&r switch, i have seen some bad ones over the years (they usually totally quit in one direction). You will get a boost up to 23-24 mph with a aftermarket controller that does not limit speed like stock controller does.
