Default 2004 Par Car Eagle Manuals and more

Just picked up a 2004 Par Car Eagle. VIN 5ED34130E4 was hoping to get the service manuals anyone know where I can find them? The cart currently is not running suspect batteries are bad but I may need more information. Also the batteries that are currently installed (old) seemed to be bulging, with evidence of battery overfill or corrosion. Do these carts have a history of burning up batteries? Are there any particular things to look for as I get this cart running. I appreciate any info provided. Thanks

That unit was originally sold 1/6/2004 through Golf Carts of America in Sun City West. It's got the XP drive system in it (unless someone through the years installed a Sevcon ACE system). You can use the 96-2000 parts and service manuals I have already posted on the bgw site. www.buggiesgonewild.com/columbia-parcars

Bulging batteries here at home means it froze again outside and my garage heat didn't kick in. In Arizona it means they have been left discharged and heavily sulfated.

No greater history than any other brand when it doesn't get charged or maintained.

Thank you for your feedback!! Is there a manufacturer recommended battery brand or model for this model of cart? What is the OEM battery in the cart?

Okay so I got the new batteries in it...... and to my astonishment absolutely everything works. This cart is great. The only thing that needs attention is the right front shock absorber is sagging a bit. Nothing grinds or drags so I should have some good mileage left in it. Great cart! Considering what I paid for the cart and how it was stored by the previous owner I think I did good.

My question is now. Should I always plug it in after use? Even if it is just to the mailbox and back? about a mile or so.

Yes. Think of it this way....does your car alternator always work when youndrive your car even if just driving to get a bag of chips?

I am not sure I agree with your anolgy of the alternator and your golf cart. The battery in your car is designed to provide a burst of power for starting and then become a backup for the alternator in heavy load conditions which means it is not designed to be run down and recharged...in fact...that type of usage will lead to an automotive battery failure. Deep cycle golf cart batteries...on the other hand...are designed to be cycled and if they are not suffently cycled they will start to sulfate even if they are fully charged. So I believe the best way to maintain golf cart batteries is to watch your guage, if you have one and charge only when you show 50% or less in the batteries. Most people use their golf carts in simular use cycle every week and it shouldn't be to hard to work out a charging cycle that provides the best service and makes the batteries last as long as possible. And of course don't forget to water them and keep the tops of the batteries wiped dry.
