2008 club car precedent won't start (gas)
I have A 2008 club car precedent gas. It was running fine then all of sudden I tap the gas and nothing besides a clicking noise which I believe is the solenoid. When Iobserve the engine and push the pedal I see the belt move a little but nothing. Do you thinking I replace the solenoid? Or could does someone thinks it's something different

Check the starter. Pull one of the caps and look at the brushes see if they are worn out. If so let us know.

I'm having the exact same issue with my Yamaha Gas G9. Can't wait to see the results of the starter. Unfortunately cart is up north and wont be able to go to next week. I'm just going to see how things for out for you for now. :)

Re: 2008 club car precedent won't start (gas)
Hi,
I have a 2007 Precedent gas cart. The very same thing happened to mine about two weeks ago. In my case, the cart had the original battery from 2007 and it was shot. I installed a new battery and all is OK again. Try using jumper cables from car battery. If engine starts, it is probably a bad battery. Ed |

So if the battery is dead will the cart push start?

The solenoid clicking most likely indicates low battery charge, not anything wrong with the solenoid.. Do you have a voltmeter? Put the battery on a charger overnight and try it again. Or jump it from a good 12V battery.

I will test it but really just want to get a new battery. Can I buy a standard car battery or should I look for anything particular?

Any 12 volt battery would work, but a size 70 battery will fit as it is supposed to.

Tim?
You should confirm your battery group for your G9 first, before buying a new one, or ask in the Yamaha gas forum, just in case! |
