Default How to bench test a SEPEX motor?

How do you check a SEPEX motor using a 12 volt battery? I am able to make a series motor spin by connecting A1 to S1 together and attach jumper leads to A2, S2. The two SEPEX motors in question, however, will not spin when I do this. I know for sure one of the motors was working in my golf cart. I just mixed up the two and don't remember which is the good one. I'm wanting to make sure I pick the working motor. Thanks

Connect S1 to A1
Connect S2 to A2.
12v positive to S1-A1
12v negative to S2-A2
The motor should run.

If motor is in the cart make sure to isolate and insulate motor connections.

HIH.

Good luck.

What is the problem if it just sparks on the terminal upon applying the positive lead?

If you've jumpered F1 to A1 to B- and F2 to A2 to B+ at a max of 18 volts and all you get is a spark then the motor is shorted; repairs are best left to a motor shop.

You can NOT bench test these motors. There is no front bearing. They will not spin when they are not mounted in the rear which supports the front end of the armature.

What direction should the motor turn? When I do the above test to my 2011 BBB XTO the front motor turns forward and the back motor turns in reverse. Is that right?
