Default Should I buy Precedent I2 Excel 2012 $2,000

Just saw this on craigs list
Precedent I2 Excel 2012 with charger
Batteries are supposed to be 1 year old but all test at 7.5 volts and are Duracell don't think they have been charged lately
$2,000 and will not budge on price
This is for my 90 year old Mom to get around her property 2 acres get mail etc.
3 years ago I bought her a 36v 2001 DS and it stopped running
I know it needs batteries and probably more
To upgrade the old one with Scotty B's kit and get new batteries should cost more than this cart

Any good advice from anyone on the excel carts

Is it worth $2000 plus a set of batteries, they are not coming back in my opinion

I like the number

The Precedent is no doubt a solid cart. I would bank on this one needing batteries if not immediately, in the near future. The price isn't too bad for a three year old cart, though, but I would still try to use the batteries as leverage to get the price down a bit.

I think the Precedent Excel would be a great cart for your mother, the Regenerative brake down to 1mph and the walk away brake make it very safe.

If those battery voltages at rest are correct the batteries are definitely trash at this point.

I tested each battery 2 times 7.5 each
He does have 2 other carts for sale
Maybe I'll go with a trailer, cash (leverage)
and test the others - maybe they're batteries are better

If they are all the same should it be a deal breaker if he doesn't budge on price?

It would seem suspicious to me for anyone to sell 1 year old batteries on a dead state unless they are trying to prevent You from testing the cart.

If the cart could move at all the problem is your meter.

The cart does drive F and R I drove it short distance
Then tested batteries
I could not find a date code on top of the Duracell batteries
Will go again tomorrow

You may want to measure the voltage on your car battery with that meter just for a sanity check.

It would be ok for the pack to go down to 45v when you are drawing 200amps, but not at rest, plus the battery warning light should have come ON as soon as the cart stopped if the voltage was below 48v.

The surface charge on the battery pack would have recovered within seconds to above 48v after the load was removed.

To test the speed sensor and controller walk-away brake:
Turn the key OFF and push the cart, the controller should engage the motor to prevent the movement and beep the reverse buzzer.
To test the charging system:
Plug the charger to AC power.
Turn the FNR to reverse, the buzzer should sound.
Plug the charger DC plug into the cart.
Within a couple of seconds the reverse buzzer should stop. This will test that the OBC lockout has not been tampered with.
Look at the charger, the ammeter should go to maximum regardless how much charge is in the batteries.
The charger should go OFF after ten seconds, stay off for a few seconds and then start again.

I went back to check out the golf carts.
the voltage was 7.5 for each battery. On one cart the batteries were dead and the date code on the all Duracell batteries was from 2014.
The sticker on the side of the batteries was 2015 which I have heard is common
The guy kept on telling me how the batteries were new and had a one-year warranty and would not listen as far as the batteries being damaged in fact he didn't care because they will warranty for a year. Good luck on me trying to collect!
I passed on getting the cart because I was just getting a feeling that something was really wrong with the whole situation
I'm not in any rush and the fact that I had cash in my pocket and a trailer behind my pick up I didn't push me to make a bad decision

The story behind the golf carts was this
They will bought from someplace in Connecticut where somebody robbed the batteries out of about 30 carts cutting the wires and ruining all the electronics.
In the back room this guy had 10 more carts that were ripped apart no batteries that he was going to rebuild.
He would replace all the electronics and he told me he was putting 2015 components into the carts and was making them IQ carts even though the serial number had Ph12 as the first four digits making it an Excel cart not IQ The motor still was the same so I just felt like it was a Frankenstein cart and I would have no idea what components were in it.

I was told I could have one of the carts with no batteries for $800 and just add batteries.
What the first guy forgot to tell me was that all the electronics in those carts were fried.
It would've been a nightmare if I try to buy batteries and fix it

Oh and get this the charger was supposed to be included but when I went back today he wanted 400 for it
I had an extra 48 V charger and I brought it worked fine
When the guy showed up with his chargers they were some kind of Stanley battery chargers that had different golf cart adaptor pieces looked like for the 36 V and the 48 V but I never saw anything like it before
I should try to look it up online and see how much they actually cost
I just saw a Carry-all in the paper for $1600 and I'm think I'm looking at that next
But this opens a whole new canna warms with a gas engine I think it's Kawasaki but it looks pretty neat
