Is this cart 36 or 48 volts?

Re: 2001 ds no power in reverse
Sounds like batteries are dead if they're only showing 48.5. Should be somewhere between 50 and 51v on a full charge.
Check battery voltage when the cart is moving and batteries are loaded. |

Re: 2001 ds no power in reverse
It sounds like you've either got low battery voltage, an out-of-range throttle signal, or a controller that has simply lost output.
Let's try some stuff. Get a digital multimeter and perform the following tests. -Check the total battery voltage of your battery pack. Check it while the cart is sitting still, and test it again while you're driving it. You may need to purchase some alligator clip leads for your meter so you can leave it clamped to the batteries while you're driving. You'll need to set the meter to 200 Volts DC, and position the leads as follows.. Red lead will go to the main positive battery terminal. This will be the positive terminal of the rear-most battery on the passenger side. The black lead will go to the main negative, which will be the negative terminal of the rear-most battery of the passenger side. Posts your results here. Let us know how low the voltage drops when the car is only doing 8 MPH. Throttle testing - With the F&R switch in forward, key switch off.... Un-plug the small green wire and small yellow wire from the controller. These are the throttle input wires. Insert the leads of your multimeter into the terminals on the ends of these wires. Do not reconnect them to the controller. Set your meter to 20k Ohms. At zero throttle you should see 5000 ohms. At full throttle you should see 0 ohms. Post results here. zero ohms at full throttle is obviously more important than any reading anywhere else if we're trying to diagnose a speed issue. We're trying to make sure the throttle switch is telling the controller to run full speed. If we find that the battery voltage is OK, and that the throttle switch is working correctly, we'll need to put a controller on it. The Curtis factory controllers fail like this from time to time. As they age, they lose power output. |

Re: 2001 ds no power in reverse
Does that cart have a small resistor coil setup for reverse?
