Default 48v ‘95 CC DS slow up hills and reverse

I’ve had this cart for 3-4 years, about 2 years ago I hoped to gain a little more power up hills and reverse so got new batteries. Noticed no gain in power when added new batteries tho. Added new battery cables also, still nothing. Been reading and researching trying to see what it might be. Could it just be the motor? Or hopefully something less expensive to replace? Thanks for your help!!

Yea, a 48 volt golf cart.
12 mph +/-.
Bigger tires will help.
I found a 36volt CC motor
Went from 12.5 mph to 18-19 mph.
..,
Motor cheapest upgrade for speed & torque on
the 48volt golf carts.

So you think my cart doesn’t have any major issues, just generally worn out a bit? Top speed on flat ground is about 11 mph. Up any kind of slope and speed/power drop significantly. 3-5 mph. Same in reverse.

Series carts (big FNR lever) are not very fast, but make sure you are getting 100% throttle:

Fuel Hose Fix:

Edit: Hopefully is not a Regen 1 cart with the single resistor coil.

If that is a '95, you most likely have a Potbox (or a VSP) for the throttle and as you stated, it has been doing it so I think it is more just the power you have available (torque) as opposed to any problem. So when you go up a hill and need more power, it is just not capable of delivering any more. In regards to reverse, it is limited to 50% so that is why reverse is slower.

If you place larger tires on it, you will increase the available top speed, but what you give to one end you take from the other, so you will be giving up torque and this will make going up a hill even worse....

Barring any problems, the best way to help with power for hills and acceleration would be to put in a torque motor or get a PQ Bandit upgrade for your Series motor with speeds around 18 – 20 mph and 25+% increase in low end torque with all stock components.

You can also get an Alltrax SR controller and get a LOT more power from your cart. Look around here https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/c...-club-car-ds-i

Mine doesn’t have a peg like that one, let me post a pic of my pedal assembly. The idea is to get this thing all the way to the top when the pedal is pushed all the way down? This is where it’s at when the pedal is all the way down. You can see it’s kinda between the last one.

So from what I’ve read about it, my cart is not a Regen.

That is a V-glide style Variable Speed Potentiometer (VSP).

So you have a bunch of spring looking things behind the batts? I think you have a resistor cart. Go to carts unlimited, site sponsor and swap the whole thing over to a solid state with a controller.....

Best thing I ever did. Also added a torque motor, went from 10-12mph with no climbing ability, to 18-23mph and can spin the tires all the way up any slope.
