Controller upgrade, Speed Increase

I have a 2015 G29 48v Yamaha cart. It has a stock motor, controller, solenoid but does have upgraded wheels and tires. Tires are 20in tall and the cart currently runs about 14mph on flat road. I just got the cart but will primarily be using it around the neighborhood on roads with small hills. I would like to try and increase the top speed to about 25 or more but dont want to spend a fortune.
I'm looking to upgrade the stock controller to an Alltrax XCT400 and a 200amp solenoid and keep running the stock motor for a little while.

Any idea what kind of speed I can push out of the stock motor by just upgrading the controller and solenoid? I dont know what motor it has in it other than its black with a silver end and it doesn't have any stickers or marking on it left.

Stock motor will get about 22mph with stock wheels, your larger wheels will go a little faster. The upgraded controllers are known to finish-off the rather weak stock motor in about a year or less, so make plans on that motor upgrade eventually. Fortunately, the XCT is pretty immune to motor failures, not so for most every other controller, so controller should not be damaged when stock motor goes south.

Thanks guys. 22 sounds decent and I dont mind putting a motor in, in a year or so. Is it worth moving to the XCT500? We have some hills but the stock controller and motor do an ok job climbing them and I would expect the 400 to be a decent increase in torque over the stock controller.

You can set your new XCT500 to 400a max, and you should with the stock motor. You will be ready to fully utilize any motor when it's upgrade time! It would be a good move for the future to get a 500 & set it to 400 for now. Back to 500 (and turn "peak amp mode" on) when a good motor is installed. The XCT500 can deliver closer to 600a when "peak amp mode" is enabled, not to be used on stock motor. It is a factory authorized option, no "cheat code" needed, just a check-box in the free PC software.
