DS with 8-6v batteries
Am I the only person who reconfigured the DS golf cart to hold 8-6v batteries instead of 4-12v or 6-8v? I did this and the range was incredible. I also put in a high torque motor and 500a controller. I was able to go 25mph for hours with 2 adults. I could also climb anything. If anyone is considering a project, this is certainly worthwhile.

Re: DS with 8-6v batteries
No....its been a standard for quite a while, and very popular with the Precedent driving folks....there is even a "sticky" for it !
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...-part-1-a.html Ive done the above procedure more than a couple time on "flip" projects and have been very happy with the results ! |

Re: DS with 8-6v batteries
He said 8 6v, not 6 8v. Very common in Carryalls.

Re: DS with 8-6v batteries
Yes, people do it fairly often. especially in the older 36v carts that already have 6v batteries.
Usually mount two more in the bag well and run cables through the access cover. It does make a big difference in the overall range, and can mean better power for climbing hills with the right setup with more amps available from the pack without as much voltage drop under load. It’s a little more expensive, but usually worth it for the longer run times. Post some pics of your setup if you can. |

Re: DS with 8-6v batteries
I built a Precedent for a guy that I used the high torque motor on but only used the 350a controller and his would shut off after 20-30 minutes due to overheating of the controller. Perhaps you have already checked the controller.
