Bent axles??
There's been a couple occasions in which I tried to explain how an axle can be bent and you can't tell by looking at it. Here's an example for future reference...
When this is on the cart, it's not visible from the front. It's hardly noticable from the sides. When you drive, there's only a slight pull to one side. The first pic is a front veiw. Where is it bent? Second, top veiw. here you tell something isn't right Next, this one you can see it, but not if it's on the cart That buckle on the bottom is the bend. All it takes is a couple big people to hit a hole, or little people hitting a big hole? FYI tony |

Re: Bent axles??
I discovered the same problem on my cart after I bought it. Did not see it till I was installing some electrical.

Re: Bent axles??
There's a lot of used axles. Most lift kits replace the stock axle. My EZ GO dealer has a pile of them out back of his shop. He sells them for $35.00. Most of the time they still have spindles, hubs and tie rods....
There are some slight differences in the newer axles. At some time they changed the steering box slightly and there is an extra hole in the axle for the newer box. I'll see if I can't get some pictures to illustrate the differences. I can drill them to fit.... Have a careful 4th....I may have pics a little later. |

Re: Bent axles??
The newer axle has the extra bolt hole.(Bottom of 1st pic.) The new steering box has two mounts at the end of the housing. The old has one at the end(broken off) one mount aboout 1/2 way in, and one on the oiginal position.
You may be able to leave it as is, replace it if your alignment suffers... |
