Default Oil in air box

What could be reasons for oil to start collecting in the air box -yamaha G9, bypassed gov.

Make sure the engine has only 1 quart of oil. Some dip sticks were mis-marked. Drain out the oil and add 1 quart then re-mark the dip stick.

Did the oil smell like it had gas in it? Could be a stuck float needle. When that happens, the only place the gas can go is into the crankcase, causing the oil level to rise and will eventually get into the air box/cylinder and the muffler.

after changing the oil, the cart runs fine, no oil in the box, talked to a service guy at work,(mobile service for job site golf cart repair) he said that since I removed the gov. the engine will runs a lot hotter and will break down the oil quicker and result in oil in the air box. he advised me to install a hour meter and note the total hours the next time oil starts getting into the box and change the oil 4-5 hours prior to this number, also to use a high quality synthetic(any suggestions?)
