Default Hot sheaves ???

My sheaves seam to be getting real hot. I just put a new belt on and lubed the secondary clutch. The clutch was TOO hot to touch. Is this normal ? Everything looks to be working like it should .

Thnaks , I need someone to test it out. I have ruined two belts in less than ten miles. I thought it was because I welded my engine mounts in crooked . I thought I had that corrected and messed up another belt. Then I found out my rear clutch was not sliding SO , I really want to be creful this time.

Check your sheaves for any burrs or scratches. that is enough to mess with any belt. yes your sheaves will get hot. on snowmobiles sometimes snow will sizzle off them. its normal

I checked mine after a 7 mi. ride today, and mine were warm, but not to hot to touch for half second or so. It was also 90* ambient temp.
Hope this helps.

Could brakes be dragging or worse the tranny be locking up? Check tranny oil

Even low tire pressure

If you are making that much heat you are slipping the belt.
Check for sticking sheaves, broken spring, spring tang on end jumped out
of hole causing loss of pre wrap.?
