ok men need some more help, I pulled the motor off and took the snapring off the imput shaft assy but this bad boy will not come out, whats the trick? there is no notch for a slide hammer i have used visegrips and prybars with no luck. I thought about welding something on the end or drilling a hole on the other end and driving it out? what about putting the heat gun on it? HELP!!
I do think this is the problem for sure will only turn a little by hand i can make it turn over with plyers, the middle gears look good so im almost sure its the top assy. Thanks

Ok I got the top shaft and bearing assy out!! Thanks scottyb I have the 21spline shaft the inner bearing was fine but the outer bearing was toasted, rusted all up and hard to turn. I really hope the middle shaft bearing are ok it spins fine but untill i put a load on them. I really should replace them all I guess? just hate to fool with the freeze plug design lol
please give me your thoughts, should I just replace what I know is bad and see what happens?

Glad I could help you , where ever you are buying your parts get the freeze plugs too, they are cheap and it beats hell out of repairing the old ones and reusing them.
