Broke rod :(
2001 txt, tightened governor spring, improved speed but popped and lost a lot of power. No compression on 1 cylinder, pulled engine and sure enough! Broke rod.... Also was way low on oil, I am sure that caused failure or at least contributed. Never hit rev limiter and never really sound like was turning that hard.
Looked at several options for replacement, don't want to spend $2k and leaning toward rebuild stock. Question - can I reasonably expect to get 17 - 19 mph without putting catastrophic pressure on a WELL MAINTAINED stock engine? Appreciate any input. |

Re: Broke rod :(
Mine's runnin in the twentys... Oil level was definitely your culprit I'd say. The robbins motor is tough and I know it will take it if maintenance is kept current.

Better still, replace the oil filter.

Re: Broke rod :(
Thank you!
One last question- even adjusting the rpm's and speed, there is also a rev limiter? |

Re: Broke rod :(
Yes... I believe they all have one built into the ignitor... I can't remember the correct rpm but I think it's somewhere b/w 4300 and 4600. Not sure on that limit. I might be completely off.
