Default G16A Battery?

I am obviously new to the forum, but have a silly question none the less...

Grandpa is gone, but left his golf car behind. It has not been driven for a little over a year. The battery is dead. I am having trouble finding out what kind of battery to put in there... any help?

Additionally, any maintainence that needs to be performed before moving it? I promise that I tried to google it... thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum.
If it's gas then any automotive 12 volt will work. In my Yamaha I stuck in the biggest battery I had in my garage it's out of a tractor that was too big for my friends van. It's been in there 2 years and shows no sign of slowing down. I like the big battery so the wife can listen to the radio all day when she's out with her horse.

You got that right. If you have your old battery just pop it out and head to your local car parts place. If not then just measure the space you have and take a tape measure with you. And congrats on owning one of the tuffest golf carts out there. Trust me.

If you are offended by foul language then I'd turn down your speakers. I have ape like friends and they weren't expecting that to go on youtube.

Get the biggest 24 series you can afford. As for maintenance drain all the old gas, change the oil and replace with one quart new oil. Pick up a couple spark plugs while you're at it, you'll need them eventually. Check the air filter. If you're keeping the cart go get a service manual for it, money well spent. And be prepared to clean the carb, after sitting that long it may need that too.........

I put the cheapest battery I can find with the posts that fit, actually GM or Ford top post will fit mine. If you play radio or have lights on without it running, then get a larger one that still fits in there. Last few years I used batteries out of cars/trucks that got weak in the winter, they last 2-3 years in the cart I only use in summer. It died this fall and I put a jumper pack in there and ran it lol, they don't take much. But a normal cheap car battery usually lasts for many years thats why they have that in there. I have lights but only use at night while running.

You may have to clean the carb and it should run, possibly a new plug which would be a good idea anyway. Should do the normal upkeep like check the belts, lube clutches, airbox service, etc. Yamaha the drive belt is 1" wide then it needs to be replaced, new is 1 3/16" wide.

Good deal. Try to do the clutches there are posts here about them. When they get dirty they don't shift right and you lose power, lot of people never service them. Can trash the rollers in the new clutches and the pins in the older ones. This is much more obvious if you have a lift. Worn belt is also worse with a lift.
