Are fuse lugs supposed to get hot?
I've got a 2000 48 volt Yamaha. I'm not familiar with them. Has a factory Yamaha charger, model SCR481717, 48 volt. On the front of the charger, in the center, at the bottom there is a "window" like opening, exposing two fuses that are fastened by small nuts at each end, of each fuse. Originally, this opening was covered with a clear plastic. When the charger is charging, the nuts that hold the fuses get very hot. One nut gets up to around 230 degrees F. The plastic window that once covered the fuses has melted and is gone. The fuses have never failed though. Here's my question--- Is this typical? I figured the lugs would be warm to touch, but should I expect them to get that hot?
