Default 36v to 12V reducer advice

We have a 99 TXT Freedom that came with the EZGO light bar kit and someone added two driving lights underneath them with a separate switch. The light bar is essentially useless for seeing at night. The driving lights are actually good for seeing down the road. The problem is to get 12v, it actually comes from the last two 6v batteries. Pretty stupid. After a few years now, the two 6v batteries are much weaker than the others because they have been used by the motor and the lights. The lights draw 7 amps for the light bar and 8 amps for the driving lights. I want to run the driving lights off of a reducer and leave the rest of the lights as they are.

I am looking for advice from someone that has experience with a good reducer. I have seen some for as low as $30 and as much as $120. I am looking to draw 8A @12v from the reducer.

It is really a bad design, IMHO, to shorten the life of two 6v batteries just to save the cost of a reducer. As much as a cart costs, they shouldn't be allowed to install these kits that run off of two batteries.
