unknown relay
96 gas club car, I have a new e-bay starter solenoid my problem is the small posts on solenoid get power and keep power when I turn key to on but engine wont turn over in start position unless I jump the big posts then it will run. But if I turn key to on position small posts have power until I push the gas then I lose all power to the small posts and engine wont run by jumping large posts unless I pull the system ground wire from engine. I have a relay in the black box that I cant seem to find in any wiring diagrams. I am thinking I have something wired up wrong on the relay or gas pedal micro switch. I am looking for pics or wiring diagram of relay/black box. Thanks For Your Help

Re: unknown relay
If that is an automotive Starter-Relay(solenoid)it won't work for long. The starter-relay for a car-application is Intermittent-Duty,Carts use a Constant-Duty,since they are engaged the entire time the cart is running. It may also be incorrectly wired internally for your application. Was it sold as a replacement for Club-Car,or just as a replacement start-solenoid/relay?The small relay can be wired in several different ways. There is a standard relay, and then some other ones that are wired accordingly.Look at the diagram on the case of the original, and the replacement and make sure they match. The terminals are specific to certain funtions.
Standard Relay Wiring: Terminals are numbered on case by terminal 30 Batt.+ 86 Switch-Power(key,pedal,etc...) 87 Output/Function + 85 Ground 87a used occasionally,I don't remember its' mate(87 ?),but I think it changes the relay-function from normally open to normally closed Hope this helps. |

Re: unknown relay
This is a key start cart
I have looked at all the wiring diagrams and none show the relay but they show a second micro-switch on the throttle assembly in the box mine only has one maybe that's the reason for the relay to bypass the second micro switch that's not there The solenoid was sold as a club car part on ebay but you never know I have checked all three micro-switches (2 on shifter, 1 in the black box) for continuity on poles as the switch is cycled and all switch continuity as they should Maybe plan should be rewire per stock diagram |

Re: unknown relay
The 6 pole relay also functions as it should during bench tests

Re: unknown relay
mmm, I think something is wired wrong because I managed to set fire to my voltage regulator it melted the red wire out of itself.
