i think i may have spun the bolts on my motor!!!!

i installed new 4 gauge wires on my 95 36v ezgo because it was slow uphill and with more than 2 people on it. after it seemed to have less torque sometimes and sometimes its the same as before. i dont remember spinning the bolts on the motor but after trouble shooting i believe that could be a possibility. i was wondering what symptoms that would haev and how to check it. sometimes the motor wires get hot sometimes they dont sometimes some of the speed controller wires get hot sometimes they dont and same with solenoid. battery wires never get hot.

what exactly do you mean when you say you SPUN THE MOTOR BOLTS?

being a machanic......if a bolt is spinning.....it means it LOSE! and you tighten it up...but you certainly mean something else.......

or is this some SPARKY term I have never heard before??? and I work with PLENTY of electricians

I'm guessing that he means the terminal bolts that the wires connect to.

OP: If you "spin" one of those, wires will break inside the motor, leaving you with a no-run situation.

ok.....that makes sence I guess.....and you are deffinatly right....their could be or most likly broken wires in there......which would make sence of the fact things getting hot since there isn't as many conductors carrying the current.

Sorry for the late reply. How would I check for that? Like I said I'm not 100percent sure that's what I did but would that cause slowness uphill and slightly less torque?

I guess the first thing I would do is to go through all the contact points and make sure the bolts are all tight at each contact point. ensure there is no corrosion on the terminal contact as well (obviously none on the new wires). I've made the mistake of not fully tightening the bolts and have noticed power issues until I remembered my mistake....

I've checked all wires and connections everything is brand new and very tight this thing is frustrating
