Default Is my accelerator rod supposed to be straight or bent?

CC Carryall 2, FE290 motor. Is my accelerator rod supposed to be straight or bent? I can't get the 15-17 degree throttle cam position without the ball joints coming off the ends of the accelerator rod. My accelerator rod has about a 20 degree bend in it.

I don't think it's safe to leave less than 3 full turns on each ball joint end???

With the 5 DS's I've adjusted the throttle rod on, they're all straight!
However, the DS and carryall 2 part numbers for the rod are different,
so I'm not exactly sure about the carryall rods!

When you say throttle rod do you mean the rod that goes from the pedal underneath the floorboard to the solenoid box? I haven't seen one up close on an FE290 cart but on my KF82 cart (pre-1992) it's also straight.

the rod on my '97 Carryall II is straight and, quite frankly, could have been 1/2" or so longer. I have few threads in each end to get the correct angle. 17 degrees? I don't remember for sure.

Yes, the rod from the pedal to the solenoid box. Has a ~45 degree bend in it back towards the box.

Carryalls have a kink in the rod where it connects to the cam on the underside of the the black box. Approx 40 degrees or so of bend. It enters that point through a slot in the mid section frame member. The Carryall frame is longer than a standard cart and the motor is further back in the overall scheme of things. (Lift the seat and you'll see what I mean). I imagine that this kink in the linkage is to reduce flex on the rod but that is just my supposition. Every post 92 Carryall I've ever worked on has this feature but I can't honestly speak of the old KF series units since they are so rare to see these days in the shop.
