Default New Ignition Switch

Just Got my first cart 08 Ez-go txt. I was thinking about getting a new ignition switch that is uniquely keyed. My cart has a push pull light switch with 2 prongs and I was thinking about tying that in with my ignition switch. Any thoughts?

I bought a uniquely keyed, three position switch. They ain't cheap. Has four prongs, so shouldn't be a problem. You can plug the wires in to be off, on, on with lights.

So did you just plug the 2 wires from your ignition in and the 2 wires from your lights?

Yep. They're two independent switches. If it doesn't come with a diagram, use Google or a meter to see which pair turns on in the third position, and that will be the lights. The other pair should be on for the second and third positions, and that's your original key switch pair.

If you buy a non-OEM key switch, be sure the two switches are independent. One is 36 (or 4 volts and the other is 12, and you don't want them crossed.

EDIT: Mine didn't come with lights, but I use the third position to power up my 48 volt to 12 volt reducer, which powers all of my accessories.
