Billboyles - I have one of these chargers that needs repairing. I've already purchased a new charger. Are you buying these to repair and sell?

I will buy old ones from you or rebuild yours. If you are selling , then I ask for it to be a complete charger with cords attached, no missing parts. If it is satisfactory, I will pay 40.00 per charger.

Get rid of that charger, and never look back!

Any chance you would share your sucess with a fellow elect. tech? The fan isn't running on the used 2009 Yamaha I just urchased in Waco for my granddaughter.
I am 75 years old and don't have any plans about fixing anyone elses except mine

Fan never runs, until the charger hits crazy-hot temps. Yamaha told me something like 155°f. I have never seen a fan turn on in the original YDRE/moric charger.

Lightbulb Re: Yamaha charger rebuild

I popped the lid off of my 3HRV and to my surprise I located a thermal protector mounted to the large heat sinks for the rectifiers. The cutout temperature for the thermal device is 100 degrees Celsius which convents to 212 degrees F. No wonder the fan doesn’t normally run, 212 deg. Is boiling point for water.
My charger still charges just fine, just gets hot.
Also inside of the unit is a warning label stating that the unit should only be operated on a flame proof platform like metal, cement, etc.. What a place to put the warning label, why not outside so the everyday operator could read it.
Part number on the thermal device is “SEKI ST-22, 100C and is easily found and described on numerous search engines, including GOOGLE.
I will probably place a small fan next to the charger from now on, just for my own satisfaction.
I still have not located a schematic for the unit so modifying the fan circuitry, or lowering the thermal devices operating temperature is still on hold.

I looked as well, never found a good power source that would only run when plugged in to cart.
