Default electrical or fuel problem

Hello, I have a g-9 cart with a problem. the first start of the day it runs fine for a while then it wont start again. It turns over and wants to start (I hear it almost going) but it wont then it wont even do that. I don't think its fuel although I could be wrong (I smell gas) could it be spark or weak spark? how do I check the coil or should I be checking something else? I appreciate any and all advice/help

Mitch, its probably the TCI (ignitor). It runs till the ignitor gets warm, then won't until it gets cool again.

Carry your phillips screwdriver, and a can of carb or brake cleaner. When it quits, pop the hose off the carb, give it a shot of cleaner, put tube back on. If its a lack of fuel, it will now briefly run on the cleaner. If it still dont run, its not for a lack of fuel...

Also, carry an extra spark plug, when it quits, put the plug wire on the the extra plug, ground the plug to the muffler and crank the motor over. If no spark, you know its the ignitor or the ignition coil. The coil can be tested, the ignitor can't.

I had the same problem with a g9. Replaced the coil, still had the problem,
weak spark then no spark. Ended up replacing the ignitor problem went away. Get ready to spend a hundred $$$ or better if you go in that direction.

You can also try pushing on the ignitor plug or putting pressure on the casing, some have had shorts in them and they worked when that was done. It would only show that was in fact your issue. The case is filled with epoxy so it is not servicable.

I had to replace the coil last year and I wasn't sure if I replaced the whole coil or just the wire. I called the dealer to check his records. I did replace the whole thing so now I am back to square one. I hate to buy the ignitor, it is close to $200 dollars. does anyone know of any golf cart junk yards?

I have seen the pickup at the crankshaft covered in dirt and crud not working. Usually if thats the problem, a good cleaning of the pickup will fix it. Not very easy to access, but, it dont cost money to check that out.
