Smile 07 Precedent backfires

I have a gas 2007 Precedent which backfires a lot when I coast then step on the gas. Took the idles screw off of carb thinking it may have been keeping the butterfly open a little but still backfires. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

Check to make sure there is some slack in the throttle cable. It may not be allowing the butterfly to close completely.

I finally got a chance to check the accelerator cable. There is enough slack to let the butterfly close all the way. I don't know what else to try.

Have you tried an NGK bpr2es spark plug in the motor? They run rich and they use to have a colder spark plug in them. That is a fix right from Club Car for the extra fuel they run to burn off and stop flooding and backfiring.

It turns out the plug that was in the cart was the NGK bpr2es. When I removed the plug the gap was huge. I put in a new plug with the proper gap and thought the problem was over. It ran fine a few days and now backfires but not nearly as often but still backfires.
