Default Testing Yamaha Motor

Hi!
I have this Yamaha golf cart my neighbor gave me. I have never worked on golf carts before, but I thought it would be a fun project to get this one up and running.

Well, I was wondering, how would I go about testing the motor? It's a Hitachi MT320-06. I did some google searches, but didn't really find much for this motor.

I can post some pictures if that helps.

Thank you!

Hitachi? That's probably just the starter motor.

Please provide some more info about the cart. We need to determine if it is a "sepex" or "series" motor, because the "powered" test procedure is different. What you can do now is, start by disconnecting the battery pack before proceeding with any motor testing. Motor should be on cart. Remove the "A1 & A2" wires from motor, noting their original location. Do Not allow the loose wires to touch each other or any thing else (wrap the ends with tape). With your voltmeter set to the lowest "ohm" setting, test the resistance (reading should generally be between 1 and 4, if you get no reading at all, you have motor problems). You can return the wires to their original locations, and repeat the test with the other 2 wires, but when a problem in the motor exists, the problem is almost always on the "A wires" (armature and brushes).
