Default Club car ds not charging

My starter/generator starts the cart but will not charge it. Is that possible? Any ideas what to check? It starts and runs great on a new battery till the battery loses its charge.

do a search for testing the generators output. more than likely, you need a new voltage regulator.

I'm getting 12.5 volts from the generator at 1/2 throttle and only 11.3 volts out of the regulator at 1/2 throttle. I'm assuming the regulator is bad. The only concern I have is most posts I've read talk about the regulator allowing 14-15 volts when the regulator fails. I can't find anything about to low of voltage when it fails.

take a jumper wire with everything hooked up and ground the small terminal off the generator. I think it is a green wire small gauge. With that grounded it should start charging 17 volts. If it does change the regulator

the early 90's voltage regulators did not have a black ground wire. They grounded through the mounting bolt. If this got corroded it quit charging.
