I have six 6 volt batteries and I am planning to add 2 more. This is to increase the voltage to the motor. The two new batteries are going into the bag compartment.

I have done a few of these and I go with a stand alone 48v charger. They tend to put out higher amperages...Lester makes very good chargers with 21 to 25 amps and Yamaha makes one with 17 amps. Some guys don't like the highest amp models (up to 30 amps) because of the battery heat issue. Excessive heating during charging can shorten battery life.......

You can, but you will not be pleased with the range, and you will wear out the 12v batteries very quickly. Stick with 6v or 8v GC batteries.

There are no cheap batteries or chargers out there, This stuff is expensive.
