Default Wiring up a 48 Volt Battery indicator

I have a 48 volt indicator that has 4 terminals on the back of it. Most of the indicators i have seen have only 3 . One for the positive power , one for negative power and one that hooks up to the rear of the key switch. Could someone tell me by looking at the pictures which of the other 2 would go to the key switch please.

I suggest you find a a self powering LED digital meter for real voltage readings.... that meter shown is a poor representation of what is needed to keep your batteries properly charged.

Wire the positive to 48 volt on key switch the negative to pack negative. If you want it to stay on wire it to key wire that reads 48 volts when key is off. If you want it to come on with key wire it to wire that shows 48 volts with key on.

That meter has some unusual markings on the terminals, the typical markings are:
+ Connects to Pack positive (or always ON +48v).
- Connects to Pack negative.
C Connects to a switched +48v source to Control the Display ON/OFF.
R Output to control a relay, active while SOC is above a certain level.
Rather then guessing which of the tabs, AL or P is used to control the display, I would do a quick test first.

Set your meter to DC volts.

Connect the battery gauge + and - terminals to your pack.

Measure the voltage from pack negative to both P and AL terminals.

Whichever terminal gives you a voltage reading, don't use it.

The terminal that does not give You a voltage reading is the one to connect to your Key switch to control the Display ON/OFF.

Since you don't have the instructions for the meter, you really don't know what the vpc (Volts per cell) of each of the LEDs mean.

You may want to take some actual voltage readings of the pack at different LED displays and look it up on the charts to have an idea what they correspond to the actual SOC of your battery pack.

This should be similar. Terminals look like they labeled different but should be same instructions. I would guess + is from the main pack 48v + wire. - from the 48v pack -negative. P is the power on signal from key switch, or could jumper from the + terminal to be on all the time. AL terminal is most likely as mentioned earlier a relay contact for an alarm output when state of charge gets to a certain low level. It should work without using this.

Who sells this without wiring information? I would like to avoid them.

I had one of those and chunked it, not very accurate...

That is the one I have now and it works great (came from Scotty). Comes on with the ignition and is simple to install....

^^^ He doesn't want one of those.
He'd rather be blissfully unaware of the true state of his cart's "heart" and just go by the indicator.
