4 cycle shuts down when hot
Hello all...!
I'm working on a 92 Metalest, after running it and getting the engine hot it shuts down, let it cool for a few minutes and it will run fine until it gets hot again. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem may be? Happy motoring! |

Re: 4 cycle shuts down when hot
The starter/generator does turn the the gas motor over, but it will not fire until it cools down.

Re: 4 cycle shuts down when hot
Have you checked for spark when it does this?
I'd be thinking that's a coil problem, if no spark next time it does that, pour some water on the coil to cool it down and see if it starts |

Re: 4 cycle shuts down when hot
If that is not it, check your fuel lines. Be sure they are not too close to HOT components (header, muffler etc.). I had vapor lock on equipment from that before. When the vapor cools, it condenses and the moter starts 10 mins later. maybe not, it's easy to check.
I don't know of that could happen in a cart, my lines arent near a heat source |

Re: 4 cycle shuts down when hot
Had the same thing with an 02 so we blew out the gas lines, replaced the fuel filter and plugs, replaced what I thought was a breather hose (dry rot) to the air box and then cleared debris in the fins as well as the intake. Runs like brand new now! Try the free stuff first!

Re: 4 cycle shuts down when hot
Thanks for all the reply's everyone!
Ruredy, New info. the cart stoped all together, and there is weak to no spark on the plugs. I replaced the coil with a used one (that did work off another cart) but no change. I was thinking maybe the Pulsar coil or Ignitor may be bad. What's the forum's take on this |
