84 gas cc main jet adjustment?
Put the new carb on and it runs just OK. Carbon (black) still on spark plug. Pulled the main jet out and the inner jet is stuck in outer one (see Picture). It is NEW. I have it soaking overnight and I have the old carb....so I know it comes apart. Is this the adjustment for air / fuel mixture? I have heard that you should tighten the inner jet....then back off 1.5 turns...see how she runs.....then adjust up from there. Is this correct or am I missing something? I really don't want to put the jet from the old carb in it unless I can't get the new one apart to at least clean it.

The main jet is not adjustable it is to be tightened and left tight. Only the idle mixture is adjustable, done from the outside of carb.

So there is NO adjustment for the air / fuel mixture on that carb at all, inside or outside?

Re: 84 gas cc main jet adjustment?
The high speed circut of that, or any other OEM or aftermarket carbs used on a 4 cycle golf cart is not adjustable. You "adjust" it by changing main jet sizes. The idle circut is adjustable in both mixture and idle speed.
You say the plug is black, Is it fouling the plug where it needs to be changed or are you just thinking it should burn cleaner? |

Cart runs and the plug is not fouled to the point it doesn't run. Just want it to get more gas and in turn more power up a hill I hope.

If the plug is black you are already getting plenty of fuel. Adding more fuel will actully decrease power.

Re: 84 gas cc main jet adjustment?
Keep in mind you are talking about a 9HP engine that is a minimum of 20 years old It may be getting tired. How much power are you expecting? The KF82 was never consider a high performance engine.
