bypass key
me and my brothes are working a customizing a golf cart and want to bypass the key to a push button and advice on how to wire it for a yamaha g2 with 4 wires to the ignition key thanks

a push button wont work because you would have to keep the button held in all the time to keep it running.thats the way the starter generator works on these carts. if you want you can just take the 2 wires that are on the gas peddle switch and connect them together. then turn your key switch to the on position and it will just start up and run that way.

ok is there any way to eliminate the key like put in a toggle switch? or does any one have a wiring diagram for the g2?

you could just take the wires coming from the gas pedal switch and route it to where the shifter is (Or wherever you want it), when the switch is on the cart will be running. nice if you want to have it idle, and if you really really want to get creative, just jump the wires on the solenoid together with a switch, this will eliminate the key and pedal switch all together. (Top small wire to right big wire if looking from gas tank side) I learned this when trying to figure out whats wrong with my cart now, if it will run with these two terminals jumped together, than it is usually an electrical problem.

just bought a older g1 ,it has no key to turn in forward or reverse is there a way i can eliminate the key ty!

The keys are yamaha generic you can get one at any yamaha dealer.

You could put in a double throw, double pole, center off
