battery question
ok here goes yall! i just picked up a 69 3wheeler and im in the need for a battery. i did the looking on here and all i find is yall just go to a junk yard and pick one up for 20 bucks. im cool with that, but what im looking for is the origainal battey or something that will fit in the original spot wwith out me having to cut and weld a new bracket, other wise i have a endless supply of group 31 dual purpose batteies. (the batteries used in semi trucks) i found that my local nanpa has a battey with te dmensions that will fit right in, i just have to make new battey terminals since they have been hacked and modified for a motor scooter battey.
have you ever tried to find a 4 1/2 wide battery? most of the skinnest i have seen are 5 inch, unless i go to the motor scooter line! |

Re: battery question
I use a group 24, the space is a little longer but still works great. I pulled it out of an old Dodge truck 5 years ago (the battery was old then) its still working. I think a garden tractor battery would work but I haven't tried it. I made a new battery box out of stainless sheet and the battery is not held down. I just bolted a stop on the ends to keep it from sliding. There are battery hold downs on the market which I will use this winter when doing all the annual maintenance.
