Default Re: RXV EZGO - Problem

Motor on RXV's ia an ac motor.
NO REASON leaving key on would affect motor.
Never seen bad motor on RXV, bad bearings-Yes.bad encoder-yes, motor-NO.

if you put key in RXV and turn it to "R" it Does not release parking brake.
if you drive RXV's and stop- RXV locks the brake @ 2 to 4 seconds after cart stops.

--------------------------------
"Thanks - he said the solenoid was functioning correctly - cuz it was clicking!"

solenoids click as plunger moves up and down. this in no way means that CONTACTS
are making good connections (BURNED/Pitted contacts), or that contacts are breaking contact (Welded/shorted).
since cart is showing no faults, motor is good.
if controller was commanding it to run and it was not,you would get fault.
since no fault condition exists- check
1) switches and pots on pedals
2) solenoid
3) wiring (run plug,ect)
4) cables and BATTERIES.

if problem started after battery change go back to where you got batteries-
see if you can exchange them for CROWN batteries.

**** Warning--OPINION ZONE ******

opinions expressed here are solely the opinions of 1 redneck that works on RXV's.

Trojans 12v are PROBLEM batteries.
we have an RXV w Trojans.... randomly "slams" to stop. Known problem---Bad battery.
Just ONE bad battery will cause this. It can be tricky to find the bad battery.
Unless shop is experienced with RXV's they might mis-diagnose battery problems.

SOUNDS like they are not since they want to replace MOTOR.

Save yourself some trouble($$$$) and exchange Trojans for Crowns if you can.(IMHO)

**** End opinion zone *********

Good luck!! Keep us posted!
