Default 1999 ezgo txt gas not charging

Just purchased used cart. Noticed battery not charging. Read most problem solving initiatives on the web. Found wiring around voltage reg., solenoid & ignitor a mess. Ground connections corroded and questionable. Rewired this entire section fwd of battery using schematic found on internet. Replaced voltage regulator. Replaced brushes in starter/gen. Cleaned and improved all electrical connections. System is still not charging. How do I test charging portion of starter/gen.? Any ideas what to do next?

Unhoom green wire coming out of starter generator and ground it to battery put a meter on battery and with cart in nuetral rev motor up should read around d 16-17 volts at the battery if it does then it's likely a faulty VR if it doesnt than it's starter generator issue I know you said you put new VR on but some people on here have got bad aftermarket ones right out of the box

Thank you for your reply. Point of clarification. Do I ground the green wire or the terminal I removed it from on the gen? I think I've read to ground one or the other.

Thank you again. Removed and grounded the green wire. I saw no voltage change from a steady 12vdc at the battery. I see that I need to replace or have the motor/gen rebuilt.

Check all connections and if all are clean and tight this test points towards a new or rebuild starter generator I believe someone on her had similar problem and something was shorted internal but I can't find the thread
