yeah dont underestimate that FE290
rebuild it clean it up, tune it up, and go to town. from reading on here does NOT seem like it takes a lot to get to 20-25. i am going with a small lift, bigger tires, and then maybe some fancy stuff

Awesome.

Does anyone recommend a specific rebuild kit I can get? Or would it be better to just send it off to Carts Plus or something like that?

You. Can order a complete gasket set and rings from cart parts+. Cost a little over $100.

Out of curiosity, has it really been determined that the engine NEEDS a rebuild? Smoking, low compression, etc? There are simple tricks to get more speed out of it if that's the only issue.
