these carts were designed for golf. so you can set parking brake jump in and go. the last few times i played golf at a course the keys were pulled out in the on position, so you cant turn them off. they dont have brake lights, and not one time in 18 holes did i use reverse. they werent designed for neighborhood cruisers. we have just adapted them to what we want. if you want a shifter and car like controls a rhino, rzr, mule would be a better fit

Also keep in mind,They were designed for ease of use by many different people of all sizes and ages.Thats why the controls were always clustered together, that way anyone can reach them and understand them. The key coming out in "ON" is due to the switch being worn-out from repeated use,They are meant to be "OFF" when the key is off.Yes we use them for much more than originally designed, but they were also designed very overbuilt ,due to the fact that they are getting used by so many people, many inexperienced in their use.Thats why they can take such a beating and keep on going.I built mine 4yrs. ago.I'm sensible but also like to push things to the limit(I pound the hell out of it when we go out to play!).The motor was supposedly rebuilt before I put it in,Its run flat-out for miles at some times(ungoverend-It'll run 23mph),run thru mud and creeks, loaded with scrap,parts,rocks,etc..and wheeled like a quad, and is just as dependable and driver-friendly as a brand-new cart.Look at them however you want, but they were overdesigned in a simple form for a reason.

A UTV would be quite awesome but I just don't have the $ for the added cost that went into engineering those machines. The cart was more budget friendly so thats the route I went. One thing I would like to point out is the cart I bought is not your typical "golf" cart. Let me put it this way; If I were to take it down to the local Troon course for a round, the old goons would need a change of depends after hearing it then seeing the turf shredded to mulch. :D

Kidding aside, I'm warming up to these little buggies. They just need some refinements to make them more user friendly.
