Default Rear differential fluid level question

Scotty and Others,

Was doing some routine cart maintenance over the winter. My experience with rear axles is better on autos than carts.

My question is - how do you know if your rear axle has the proper fluid level. In autos, I'd always pop the cap and dip the pinky in. I did that with my cart and came up empty. How do I know if the fluid level is good on my '96 EZGO?

Thanks in advance guys!

Same way! Fill it until the fluid just runs out, then put the plug back in.

yes there is 2 plugs. teh big rubber one is for filling.

there is a 1/2 inch plug on drvs side right at axle level. this is the fill level screw. pour oil in until it comes out that plug.

if you fill up the rear until you feel it in the fill plug that is way too much and could blow out your seals

You are suppose to use 80/90wt oil in the gas rear end.
