I'm having the same problem with my 87 g9, it runs but bogs and back fires, had oil in filter box. I removed the box and put a filter on the Carb but its still not running right. Also it might sound funny but were would be the fuel filter on a g9? Is it in the tank? I haven't looked into the fuel system yet. Thank you

Need to rejet the carb. now, with the different filter. The fuel filter is part of the cap that screws on at the bottom of the tank.

Welcome to the forum!!

Ok thank you, I definitely need to change out the fuel filter. Now what do you mean reject the Carb? I seen someone else say that but I'm not to sure what it means. Thanks mac

Search "rejetting the carb". "or open element air filter" with the search feature up top. There is quite abit on these subjects. I have done it, but we have different motors.

Personally, I think its better to use stock filter system. Just modified!

Ok thank you, yeah I think I'm going to hold off on the filter change, I'm just trying to find some ways to make my cart faster, I'm still learning Haha. I first need to figure out why I'm getting oil in my filter box

Dump the oil, and put in just 1 quart. Thats all they are suppose to hold. Thats a common problem with too much oil in the crank case. Then note where the new full mark is with the one quart!

Ruckus, read the whole Yamaha site. Start at the back,(last page) and read to present. You will learn tons, the old guys talked about maint. and performance mods. and you need to do both to have a good running car!!
