newbie question
Im getting ready to buy a electric club car in the next couple days from somebody. I plan on putting a mustang body on it and doing some other cool/fun stuff. The company that makes the body I want says it only fits ds models. I know nothing about golf carts and this one is about 4 hours away from me. Theres 3 pics I can upload if needed but I was wondering if anybody can tell me how you know the difference between precedent and ds. I seen the sticky about series and sepex but that didnt help me. Any help would be great. thanks Also its a 1991 if that makes any differece

Re: newbie question
91 would be a DS, but that is an old cart to start upgrading. Unless you are getting it for free i would look for something newer imho.

Re: newbie question
no not free...200 bucks he says it hasnt been run in about a year and doesnt start now. So next I was wondering how many things could stop them from starting. He says he doesnt have a charger so I was gonna try charging the batteries first but if I had to buy new batteries and it still wouldnt start is there a lot more high price pieces? I just dont wanna buy a 1500 or 2000 dollar cart all its gonna do is go to car shows once in awhile with my car ad get driven there.

Re: newbie question
Batteries $500, Motor $300, Controller $400, Charger $400... and these are just estimates so $200 for the basic cart will most likely be only a start. If it runs once the batteries are charged up then maybe new batteries might be your only need, at least for a while. By the way the picture in my signature is a Precedent cart.

Re: newbie question
thanks for the help so far...now i have a few more questions...where would I go to get batteries? If you wanna hook up lights or a cd player to it is there something special you have to do or a certain way to hook it up since their 6volt batteries and not 12 volt?

Re: newbie question
You can follow the wiring diagram attached or get a converter for $100 and pull from all batteries, your choice.

Re: newbie question
There are many vendors that support this site and that would be a good place to start.

Re: newbie question
Welcome to the site. The cheapest I've found batteries is at Sams = 6 volt for $71 and 8 volt for $77. They're not Trogan, they are Energizer. Not quite as good as Trogan but adequate. Just not hold the charge quite as long.
