Ok boys. Picked up the Roasted cart this morning. Mostly just melted plastic. Took the plastic head cover off. It's been sitting for a while. It's a 1992 4 stroke marathon. Things look promising. Here are some pics of Ol' Roasty.

Going to pull the motor today and clean stuff up and see what I got. Frame looks good to. Might tear it all down, give her some love and put her back together and make her shiney again. Will post some pics later.

Ugly . I think I might pass on that one. Good luck because you will need it. Not sure I would want an engine that had been in a fire and this one looks like it ran a little hot

Pulled the motor. Everything actually looks awesome. It's crazy. Just melted the plastic. Even the starter is good. Carb is done but float didnt even get any melt to it. Post pics when its cleaned up

I'd have to agree with trig. That much rust and stuff inside the cylinder head isn't looking promising, at least not long term.

I'd pull the cam out and look for any pitting on any contact surfaces. If you can't polish it out, better off looking elsewhere.

I’m guessing a small shed or house fire behind.
Once cleaned up you could have the aluminum harness tested & check block & head deck for warpage. Elbow grease is cheap. Ck everything as per shop manual.

I got out my 'Efrem Zimbalist Jr.' instincts and they tell me it started from within the engine compartment rather than from the outside in, like maybe a fuel leak? Or electrical by the looks of the battery? It definitely got super hot, Wow

@Panelbeatr: Terrific avatar, even shows back pressure lol. Where did you find that? It absolutely describes how a 2-cycle works, Would be a great learning tool for some of my friends
