Default 2011 TXT 48 volt - Wire Question

Hey All, I have a 2011 TXT 48 volt cart. I bought it a few months ago and now just getting around to working on it. The batteries are shot and I'm on my way to buy a set of batteries for it. While taking the cables off, I noticed the White cable has a small black box at the end of it. It appears it used to have a terminal on it, but was completely gone. Could some one please tell me what this is and can I order a new one. Or is there a work around solution for it. Thanks.

Factory on board battery charger?
Sounds like your talking about small ring terminal that connects to negative battery post, not a battery cable. your discribeing battery temp sensor,it can be by passed.
I would be sure charger works properly.

What make model charger?

There is no onboard charger and it wasn't connected to the negative post. I'll include some pictures to show what I'm talking about. If you look at the first picture, circle A is the charger receptacle and B is the end that was attached to the positive post. The second is a close up picture of the terminal end. (The green wire tie is what I use to keep all the wires together when they come off of a particular post.)

The charger that came with it is a QuiQ charger. I haven't had a chance to look at it because as I said, the batteries were completely shot. Hope this helps.

Yep. Battery temperature sensor. It can be replaced but if it charges without it I wouldn’t worry about it.

It should still charge minus that sensor. You can also buy replacements if needed.
I have that same charger as it came with my 2012 txt.
Only difference is mine is mounted under seat on drivers side rear fender from factory ( L bracket) . Very convenient since I don’nt need to remember charging when taking cart camping😊

Yes. That sensor just monitors the temperature of the battery pack and if it gets too high will shut down the charger. But it depends on what profile is selected on the charger. It may not even use it.

kgsc,

So, I put the batteries in the cart and it worked just fine. Now I'm really really focused on the battery charger. I looked up the algorithm for the Duracell 8 volt GC8. It's recommending algorithm #71. Currently it's set on #142. I don't know if it will even charge. I tried to see if any other algorithms were loaded and it seemed empty, just #142. Also, if I do hook it up, what will it do if it's not the correct algorithm?

I guess you have to have something to load different algorithms into the charger. what do I need to do?

Thanks.

Not sure what 142 is but maybe someone here might. Ezgo for some reason started putting chargers in with only one profile. You will need a programmer to change it.

Shouldn't it still work, just not optimally? Or could it cause damage, like if it's for AGM?

Curious.
