1996 medalist power back feed to key switch

here is the problem while out on a ride got caught in a rain storm got back to camp shut the key switch off and the battery meter started to flicker then stayed on I have it wired to the switch to power up only with the switch in on position. I pulled the switch out unplugged the wires and meter still stayed on
I have recently installed scotty b package 485,super duty rev contactor,2g wires,volt meter,12v dc reducer.
that's not all with the key on if I switch from neutral to forward or rev the cart will take off by itself the microswitch in the pedal box is bypassed by previous owner

This is why bypassing the microswitch is unsafe. Have you given everything a few days to dry?

just happened yesterday checked it today and the meter works properly but still wants to take off on its own
