Onboard chargers
Ok guys, I'm sorry I'm a total newb to golf carting. Why could you not use an onboard marine charger for your golf cart batteries? I realize the difference between 6 and 12 volts but if you have a 36 volt golf cart. Could you not just but the 12 volt leads across two 6volts that are in series?

Re: Onboard chargers
There are companies that sell on board chargers for 36volt. You can use 12v chargers the way you ask, but they would need to give a high amp charge. You would also need 3. Not very cost prudent. You also are carrying the weight of the chargers. Lastly the chargers need to be away from the batterys so that the battery fumes don't start to mess up the chargers.

Re: Onboard chargers
2 words. Charge Algorithm.
Deep cycle marine and golf cart batteries have different charging cycle (pattern) needs. |
