Ezgo series wiring problems
I have an easy go that I've picked up that the previous owner gave up on getting running, so I think the wiring is wrong gave up on.i already went through Scotty's troubleshooting guide. The batteries are new and charged, ignition and switch is good so I moved on to the micro switch on the floor I found that the switch was badd so I went to jump the micro switch wires and it sparked like it was a direct 36 V short when trying to connect the green to the read any ideas? ..
Text to speech...lol |

Re: Ezgo series wiring problems
considering what it did when you tried to jump the switch (I can assume that you used that double spade connector to connect the two as the jump....and we can see the black on it)…..and you believe that the previous owner screwed up the wiring......you need to trace back both the RED and GREEN wires back to their source and see what they are connected too.
what year and drive system is the cart?? (SEPEX or SERIES?) |

Re: Ezgo series wiring problems
You definitely have a wiring issue !!
Your pics show a "series" cart, so this wiring diagram should get you started on locating the problem. Please remember that NOTHING uses "frame ground" on a golf cart...(as opposed to automotive.... Also, do all your troubleshooting with the rear wheels off the ground, you never know....... Hope this helps... |

Re: Ezgo series wiring problems
The only load between B- and B+ in that string of wires and switches is the solenoid coil and there is a diode between the coil terminals on the solenoid. The diode appears to be installed correctly (banded end towards the small terminal with red wires), but the diode itself might be shorted.
Here's a schematic with solenoid activation circuit highlighted. |

Re: Ezgo series wiring problems
I traced the positive from the charge port to the forward reverse switch then Power through the key switch and reverse forward switch then when trying to hook to the solenoid it shorts out. I took all wires off the solenoid and it seems to test out good?

Re: Ezgo series wiring problems
so I put in a new solenoid and left the diode out for testing and the solenoid now clicks when the key is turned on without the b+ attatched. if I hook up the b+ it shorts out.

Re: Ezgo series wiring problems
so tested the ITS leads at the controller and it came up with 13.8 no throttle and 12.5 WOT.{black and white from the throttle control.... this is with the B+ not attatched as it will short if attatch it. I installed in place of the reed switch that was not there when I bought it a fuse.
that fuse will blow instantly if I leave the B+ attatched. |
