Default 2009 EZGO TXT( Bad Batteries) ?

Hello All, I need to see if anyone has has this problem. I have had to replace the batteries very often. I bought the cart in 2016 with new batteries and then 2 years later I had to replace them again. Now they they need changed again 2 years later. It is the cart causing this or is it just the batteries not lasting. First batteries were US batteries and last one's were Crown. I just want to see if anyone has had a problem like this or do I just got bad batteries. Thanks Guys.

Should definetlly get more then 2 years from a set of batteries.
Describe your maint. And charging procedures.
Water levels kept up.
Complete charge after each use?

I always keep he water level up. The one thing I do is add well water to the batteries. Can that cause a problem? I keep it plugged in all the time. There is one thing that I have never understood, is why when it goes dead, it charges back up within 2 hrs. I did replace one battery a year ago. I have done all kind of testing, I rode it yesterday and it died and came back and check the batteries. The one I replaced was still showing 80% charge and all other were in the 40's.

I did use a Hydrometer on the batteries yesterday. See the attached pic.s. I had some 1150 cells in 4 batteries.

I'm just lost. Any help would be appreciated. I just want to make sure the cart is not causing the batteries to go bad so fast, or maybe just poor maintenance on my part. Thanks Again.

The well water (minerals) could be shortening your battery life, distilled water is specified.
Maybe not your only issue, but could be a contributing factor?

Also recommended to replace batteries as a Pack, not individually.

Do you have any accessories wired directly to any batteries?
Or are any/all accessories wired to a reducer?

A large variance in SG can have several causes. Overfilling, Undercharging and Impurities in water, to name a few of the more common ones.

Also, no two battery cells are identical, so SG imbalances do occur during normal operation and batteries must be given equalization charges periodically. Typically done before the variance between cells is 30 points.

With pure water and proper maintenance and properly sized batteries for application as well as proper charging, battery lifespan is determined by the average SoC (State of Charge) maintained and the climate in which the battery is used.

Attachment-1 is a map showing typical lifespans by zone.
Attachment-2 is a list of the max allowed amounts of various impurities.
Attachment-3 is a chart show Average SoC vs charge cycles (lifespan)
Attachment-4 is an At-Rest voltage vs SoC table
Attachment-5 is Crown's Deep-Cycle battery support brochure in PDF format.

Some back-to-back charging (Equalization charging) may close the 150 point SG gap of the cells in your battery pack if it is due to natural causes. If it is the impurities in the well water, all of them are boat anchors.
