If you are thinking that you are having an issue with overvoltage (although I agree with Scotty and have seen them run higher voltage than you are showing) why not buy a HD solenoid instead of the stock 100 amp? Scotty had some available for just a little more than you are paying for a stock solenoid I believe.

OK guys, I am stilll having problems ...I ordered another solenoid from a different supplier on ebay (sorry scottyb, I didn't know you sold them before ordering). This makes 3 that have failed, the original and 2 new ones in a couple weeks. After I installed it, I ran the cart hard all weekend as I was a track worker at a go-kart race. Stop and go for 4 days, no problems. Parked it in the garage last night, and now nothing.
I noticed that I had left the key on while charging last night. I had noticed that the key was on the last time it quit also, so I made sure it was not on all weekend, but had a brain fart last night I guess. Could this have anything in the world to do with this?

Justed double checked this new solenoid to be sure:
- have 38v across small posts with key on and gas pressed
- have 38V to large red post
- have 36V to large yellow post until pedal pushed- goes to 17V
- jump across large posts- motor runs
- have no click

Just another question though- If we can jump the solenoid to get it to run, why can't you leave it like that?

Because it would eventually drain your batteries.
Because it would eventually destroy your controller.
because the solenoid is another of those "safety" devices installed by the manufacturer to prevent the cart taking off on it's own.....

I could go on, but I think you get the point.

Was the new solenoid installed a HD solenoid?

Thanks rabbitreborn for the info, I did not figure it would be as simple as jumping the solenoid....no it was not a HD solenoid, I looked for the original part #0008016 because:
The original solenoid has a sticker that says: "Use only on vehicles with serial numbers prior to A8845-XXXXXX that have multi-solenoid speed systems. Replace with specified service part only. Other parts may damage system."
The carts a 94, so I am not sure if this has been replaced already.
